History
The National Organization was founded by the late Dr. Arnita Young-Boswel, and it is currently under the leadership of our National President, Deborah Summers. The National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc. (NHBW) was conceived by fourteen spirited women who recognized a need to establish a communications network between women's organizations and individuals. They supported the Congressional Black Caucus legislative efforts and provided a national forum to articulate the needs of Black Women and their families.
Organized in 1974, during the Congressional Black Caucus, this group of dedicated women banded together to render support and leadership assistance to the female members of the Caucus. Historically, NHBW's agenda has been to impact public policy and legislation for the betterment of the Black community and the economic and political status of Black women.
Camden Chapter
The NHBW Camden Chapter was formed in 1991 by Doris and Kathryn Gaines. The Camden Chapter are positive role models wherever we serve. Sisterly love sets the tone for our enduring dedication. Our Chapter shares a collaboration of skills to create an atmosphere for Black women to bring meaningful changes in their public and private lives. We volunteer to improve the quality of life in the community, establish ties among women around the country, support family preservation and self-empowerment. Click on any picture to enlarge it.
